Native Hawaiian and self-professed hillbilly Jordan Murph is a freelance photographer and assistant. He was born in Tennessee, went through kindergarten and a big earthquake in Northern California, then raised in a small town on the Big Island of Hawaii in the shadow of Kilauea volcano. He was then shipped off to another island where he discovered photography while attending a boarding school for native Hawaiian descendants.



Jordan's freelance clients include Sports Illustrated, The New York Times, The New York Times Magazine, and Major League Soccer. He has been a Sports Illustrated assistant and Lighting Tech since 2008 specializing in multiple remote camera operation and arena lighting. Aside from photography and assisting work, Jordan provides digital archive and workflow consulting services to professional photographers. In his spare time, he volunteers his time as the lead staff member for the Sports Shooter Academy workshops and educational programs
